Farmer-Neighbor Dinner Premier April 25

Area farmers have long dedicated many hours to grow healthy, nutritious foods, which they sell at farmers markets, farm stands and grocery stores. Yet, few know these hardworking folks by name.

The First Annual Cattaraugus County Farmer-Neighbor Dinner took place on April 25 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 6360 Route 242 in Ellicottville, providing an opportunity for the county’s farmers and their neighbors to get together for an evening of fellowship. It  also gave both a chance to network and discuss what each has to offer the other.

The dinner was sponsored by Lamb & Webster of Springville. Agricultural-related displays and appetizers kicked off the evening at 5:30 p.m. Dinner was served at 6:45 p.m., followed by a  speaker and awards.

Guest speaker Philip Gottwals, of Agricultural & Community Development Services LLC., was the consultant for the county’s Agricultural and Farmland Protection Plan.

This event was hosted by the Cattaraugus County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, along with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, the Cattaraugus County Farm Bureau, the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board.
