Dinner at the Community Table
A community dinner has been a project-in-the-works of Jennifer Karns for quite some time. With the help of many others involved with the Ellicottville Food Pantry, it will become a reality on May 11, 2012. As the idea evolved from its earliest stages, turning it into a fundraiser for the Food Pantry made perfect sense. Their hopes are to create a series of dinners that the local community can participate in throughout the year. This is just the first of many creative new ideas for the Food Pantry, which may include a pantry garden and a community movie night.
Spotlighting the event is guest chef Garret Taylor, currently a chef at the Allegany Seneca Casino. He has created menus for many regional restaurants from Olean to Ithaca, and is in charge of the Community Table menu as well. As a naturalist and mushroom enthusiast, Garret will be offering vegetarian options, and will be contacting our local organic farms for fresh organic foods. Two different samplings of beef will also be offered. The dinner will be served buffet style from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm. Public tours of the food pantry will be available that evening.
This first Dinner will be held at the United Church of Ellicottville, 51 Elizabeth Street in Ellicottville. Tickets are $10 per person, and can be pre-purchased by calling 699-4003.
Anyone wishing to donate to the Ellicottville Food Pantry is encouraged to send them to PO Box 417, Ellicottville, NY 14731.
