After another really excellent outdoor weekend, it appears we are heading into more of the same. Everything is green and the outdoor happenings taking place are creating some really FUN times here in The Ellicottville neighborhood. This is especially true of the golf good times that are available at both Elkdale Country Club and Holiday Valley’s Double Black Diamond Course. To be part of this FUN, just call either location, make a Tee Time, then get out and enjoy an excellent round and the wonderful scenery surrounding both locations.

Our music and other nightlife happenings are also creating some FUN and good indoor enjoyment. So as we say most weeks, the wonderful outdoor FUN, coupled with our indoor good times, makes Ellicottville are really neat place to visit and even better place to live. Starting today Friday May 18, 2012 through Thursday May 24, 2012 we will have seven Bands, two DJs, at least two Sound System Music Events plus all the super food and drink specials that are offered by our wonderful clubs and restaurants.

The first of The Sound System Music Events will take place in Madigans Party Bar most of the hours they are open. What you will hear are Madigans Party Favorites till around 10:00 PM when Club Madigans will kick in till close for even more FUN. Also remember; weather permitting, Madigans Up-Stairs Party & Patio Bar will be roaring for even more FUN.

One more thing, The PUB in Great Valley will be music live free this weekend. However, their local friendly ambiance and very reasonably priced food and drinks will be in full swing. So stop in The Pub and enjoy the local good times.

The first band performance will begin at 7:00 PM Friday in Balloons when “The Porcelain Bus Drivers” take the stage. This great band, from Jamestown, plays a mix of classic to modern rock; disco and hip hop from the eighties thro nineties and beyond. They are well know for their annual Friday performance at Rocktoberfest and were the opening act for “Loverboy” at The Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce’s 2005 Summer Festival of The Arts. Following The PBD Band “Personable DJ John Barry” will be in Balloons Sound & Light Booth keeping the party going with his FUN, LIVE “Personality Show Off Show”. John’s show, as always, will include neat danceable tunes and good Party-Time FUN & Conversation till close.

Returning to 9:00 PM Friday, The Gin Mill will have acoustic guitarist and singer, “Jay McDonnell” in house. Jay’s performance, as always will include tunes from Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce and many more. All of these tunes will be done and performed in the true Singer-Songwriter manor intended by the original artist. So stop by The Gin Mill, partake of their wonderful, yet reasonably priced menu. Then kick back and enjoy the music of Jay McDonnell.

Saturday, the music starts at 6:00 PM in Balloons with “The Ozone Rangers” ROCKIN THE HOUSE. This three-piece Southern Rock Band, that looks a bit like “ZZ Top”, are true road warriors who have survived the test of time from disco through the pretty boys. They put on one of the best music shows we get to see here in Ellicottville. Like the band Balloons hosted last night, “The Ozone Rangers” were the opening act for The Summer Fest 2008 headline band, “The Little River Band”. They are really FUN and will put on an excellent show this Saturday. Following “The Ozone Rangers” DJ Chatty, Friendly and totally Flakey Frank Watson”, who is “Ellicottville’s Original Party Monster” will be on Party Continuation Duty in Balloons Sound & Light Booth doing his really FUN, All Ages Friendly, Party Continuation Show, till close.

Moving to 9:00 PM Saturday, The Powerplay Band” will be on The Gin Mill’s Music Stage. This four-piece, very hi-energy, disco, blues to classic rock band specializing in classy live entertainment has performed here in Ellicottville a couple of times this past year. Every time they have created a very FUN and energetic atmosphere that has had The Gin Mill’s dance floor quite busy. We expect nothing less this Saturday. So for another FUN music night, check out The Gin Mill this Saturday night.

            After another beautiful weather, unwind Sunday, we move on to next week and our regular weekly lineup. Like most weeks, we begin Monday in The Gin Mill with their “All U Can Eat Spaghetti and Garlic Toast Dinner” for only $6.99. This wonderful Gin Mill Meal is a true value, that many Ellicottvilleites, including Big Ray, enjoy every week. Check it out you won’t be disappointed.

Moving around the corner on Monroe Street, Balloons will have their “Pizza and Wing Monday Night Special” hosted by Mike Brady. Just stop in Balloons, say “Hi Mike”, then enjoy the wonderful pizza and super twenty-five cent wings. All of this will be further enhanced by Balloons Wonderful Sound & Light System.

Then at 10:00 PM sharp on Monday, “Madigans Church on Monday”, Ellicottville’s only “All Original Music Happin”, again hosted by “The Reverend Jack DarZaVaset” also known as “Mr. Da Poleski Da Director of Silliness & Original Foolishness”. It is also possible a few other local music characters may join in, there-by creating & performing even more FUN Music & Good Times in Madigans till close.

Tuesday The Barn and John Harvard Pub will again be offering “After Golf Drink & Dinner Specials” beginning around 5:00 PM. So like last week, get out and enjoy some golf then partake of the really excellent specials both locations have to offer.

            The final two gigs of the week will take place in The Gin Mill. First, Wednesday at 8:00 PM, Joe Wagner and John Winston will again be doing their version of folk to southern rock acoustic music featuring tunes from the sixties through the eighties and beyond. This is a Gin Mill Tradition is one of the best, longest running and most FUN music nights we get to experience here in Ellicottville.

Finally Thursday at 8:00 PM “The Weekly Notice Band” will be Whoopin Up The Gin Mill. This week’s version will be The FreBART Trio”. Which is The Freddie Brian And RT Trio. Therefore, as we always say, Brian or RT or maybe both will join Freddie, making “The Weekly or Moments Notice Band” a Unique and FUN Gin Mill Music Experience this and every Thursday.
