Dirty Duathlon Provides Good Clean Fun

If you don’t mind a little grit and sweat, then come to Ellicottville for the Dirty Duathlon and 4-Mile Dirty Bit Trail Run to benefit the American Diabetes Association. The event kicks off on June 10 at 10 a.m. at the Holiday Valley Mountain Sports Center.

Put on something you don’t mind throwing out later, grab your helmet, tie your running shoes and mount your mountain bike for a heart-racing, grueling challenge that takes you on a four-mile trail run followed by a 10-mile singletrack mountain bike ride including a 620-foot vertical climb per lap. It’s a course designed for intermediate to advanced level competitors. Enter as a two-person team or be brave and go solo. If biking isn’t for you, opt for only the trail run. Just remember – no guts, no glory!

Awards given in six age groups. Everyone can enjoy the post-race party with door prizes. Pre-register by June 2 or come early on race day. More information at www.heartrateup.com.
