OLEAN – The Olean Theatre Workshop will present Cole Porter’s nautical classic “Anything Goes” at 7 p.m. Friday, June 1 and 7 p.m. Saturday, June 2 at the Washington Street Theater located at 702 Washington St. Ticket prices are $7 and can be purchased at the door.
“Anything Goes” is set aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London. It follows the story of Billy Crocker who is a stowaway on the ship following his love, Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Nightclub singer Reno Sweeny and Public Enemy No. 13, Moonface Martin, help Billy win over Hope after a number of mistaken identities and mishaps.
There will be a different show each night because some members of the cast are playing different roles each presentation. Playing the role of Reno Sweeny, an evangelist-turned-nightclub-singer is Rebecca Lasky. Hope Harcourt, a beautiful debutante, is played by Kristi Lewis, while Evangeline Harcourt, her widowed mother, is played by Sara McGee and Elise Matthews.
Billy Crocker, Whitney’s young assistant, is played by Jamal Klute and Andrew Liu; Moonface Martin, Public Enemy No. 13, is played by Shawn Bihler and Greg Farris; and Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, a wealthy Englishman, is played by Stephan Ahl. Bonnie, Moonface Martin’s girlfriend, is played by Ashley Mulryan, the Bishop is played by Nicholas Gibbins, the Ship’s Captain is played by Anthony Alaimo, and the Ship’s Purser is played by Nicholas Patrone.
The “Angels” are played by Julie Mulryan, Miaja Klute, Kylie Schuman, Alexis Sova, Emily Bantelman, Corry Both and Mackenzie Both.
Coming up – auditions for “The Comedy of Errors” will take place on June 26–27 at 7 p.m. at the Washington Street Theater.
