The regular town board meeting for the Town of Mansfield was held at 7 p.m. on June 18 at the Mansfield Town Hall in Eddyville. Members present were Robert Keis (town supervisor), Nancy Meeder, James Hammond, Donald Mosher, Robert Schmidt, Gary Hahn and Betty Jane Horning.
The May board meeting minutes were presented and read by Betty Jane Horning. Keis was in receipt of a draft design report from the State Department of Transportation’s acting regional design engineer concerning the construction of Route 242 sidewalks from Bibbs Road/HoliMont to Route 219 in the Village of Ellicottville. Drainage work and sidewalk curb ramps will need to be done. Discussion involved who would be responsible for snow removal and drainage, since the project begins in the Town of Mansfield, crosses Town of Ellicottville lines and ends in the Village of Ellicottville. Keis stated that the project is not going to take place this year and a discussion with the town attorney needed to take place first.
The Town Clerk’s Report was given. Receipts for May 2012 were $90,151.19 and expenditures were $35,085.99. The general fund balance as of May 2012 was $171,000 and the highway fund was $206,000, for a total balance of $377,500. Expenditures year to date are $80,262.44 (general) and $134,014.98 (highway).
The Town of Mansfield insurance policy renewal was next on the agenda, with a presentation by Jeff Miller of the Evans Agency. He presented a thorough report of all areas of the insurance policy, which was accepted by the board. The total premium for 2012-13 is $18,637.24 for commercial coverage.
Other topics during the meeting included putting $1,500 towards the Little Valley swimming pool, which permits Mansfield residents to use it. The town hall parking lot will be resealed and a purchase approval for a used roller at an approximate cost of $5,000 was given.
The next Mansfield Town Board meeting will be held on Monday, July 16 at 7 p.m.
