Arts Council Encourages Attendance at Public Forum on County Comprehensive Plan

Arts and Culture the Topic for Fifth Public Forum

The fifth public forum on Cattaraugus County’s Comprehensive Plan will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Cutco Theatre, Jamestown Community College, 260 North Union Street, Olean, NY. The topic of this forum will be Arts and Culture.

Anne Conroy-Baiter, Executive Director for the Cattaraugus County Arts Council is encouraging anyone interested in the arts to attend the forum.

She said, “Through its inclusion in the comprehensive plan, the county is recognizing the importance of arts and culture in a balanced quality of life, the road to economic development, and in bringing more people to visit our beautiful part of the world.”

The purpose of the new plan is to provide a blueprint for the future growth and development of the county in the areas of economic development, agriculture, the environment and natural resources, transportation and infrastructure, arts and culture and land use. Through this process, the county seeks to establish clear goals and achievable objectives that will lead the county to create the best living environment for its citizens.

“Whether you are an artist, a performer, or a writer, this forum is for you. Whether you’re an arts appreciator, an arts advocate, an arts educator, or an arts supporter, this forum is for you. If you simply believe that the arts lead to a better quality of life for everyone, this forum is for you,” said Conroy-Baiter. “Please be at the public forum so your voice can be heard, to ensure that the arts will be included in the planned future of our county.”
