Farmer-Neighbor Dinner Announces Sponsors Reservations Due March 29

 

The second annual Cattaraugus County Farmer-Neighbor Dinner will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at the West Valley Fire Hall, 9091 Route 240, West Valley.

It will be hosted by the Cattaraugus County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board, along with the Cattaraugus County Department of Economic Development, Planning and Tourism, the Cattaraugus County Farm Bureau, the Cattaraugus County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with agricultural related exhibitor displays and appetizers. Dinner will begin at 6:45 p.m., followed by speaker Elizabeth Wolanyk presenting the topic “Informed or Misinformed,” followed by awards.

Cattaraugus County is home to a vibrant and diverse agricultural industry. Good communication is essential to developing and maintaining good relationships between farm and non-farm neighbors. This event is a way to bring the county’s farmers and their neighbors together for a night of fellowship and understanding, and will also be a way to showcase what they have to offer each other.

The premier sponsors of the dinner are Lamb & Webster, Inc. and Allegany Co-Op Insurance Co. Other sponsors of the event include Bob Johnson Motors, Carolina-Eastern Crocker, LLC; Farm Credit East ACA; Gramco Feed Co., Inc.; Ortel Supply Inc.; New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health; Perry Veterinary Clinic, PLLC; Teitsworth Trailers; Thompson Ag and Weast Insurance Agency.

Local food and items will be supplied by Native Offerings Farm, Friendship Dairy, Upstate Milk, Welch’s, Canticle Farms, Ford Brothers and Maple Ridge Bison Farm.

Participating exhibitors, among others, include Ag Discovery and BOCES, Farm Service Agency, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Cattaraugus County Health Department, Farm Bureau, Cattaraugus County Soil and Water, Cattaraugus County 4-H, Bob Johnson Motors, Farm Credit East ACA, Allegany Co-Op Insurance Co., Lamb & Webster, Inc., NYCAMH, Teitsworth Trailers and Weast Insurance Agency.

Reservations for the dinner are due no later than March 29, 2013, and can be made by contacting Deb Miller at 716-938-2318 or by email at deborahmiller@cattco.org. Cost of the dinner is $20 per person and reservations must be made prior to the event. Tickets will not be sold at the dinner.
