When it comes to stocking your home’s wine cellar, beer fridge or bar, Ellicottville has got you covered!

With its own winery, two craft breweries and two well-stocked liquor stores, you’ve got many opportunities to find some favorites to share with friends and family throughout the season.

Let’s start with wines.

Ellicottville boasts a group of incredibly knowledgeable wine experts who can guide you toward wines that you and your friends will enjoy tasting and learning about. They can also help you select the perfect wine for every course, from appetizer to dessert.

The Winery of Ellicottville is an award-winning NY winery with more than 20 wines offered every day for tasting and for sale. Whether you’re looking for reds, whites, roses or sparkling wines, you can’t go wrong with its selection. And the knowledgeable vintners will help you select the perfect accompaniments for your menus. If you’ve never seen wine being made, the Winery offers tours, as well. The Winery is located at 14 Monroe St. For information, call (716) 699-1055, or visit www.wineryofellicottville.com.

A few doors down from the Winery at 10 Monroe St., you’ll find E-Ville Spirits & Wines, featuring a vast selection of wines from all over the world, along with a cuvee tasting system that is in operation at all times. Owner Shannon Carscallen, who travels the world in search of the perfect bottles, is another of Ellicottville’s true wine experts. She and her very knowledgeable staff have trained many area restaurants’ staffs on serving and pairing wines with menu items. She also hosts tastings in private homes on request, and can cater your next event.

E-Ville Spirits & Wines has recently added a cozy seminar space on the second floor of the shop where the staff holds both wine and single-malt scotch seminars and tastings. For information about hosting a private tasting, visit www.evillespirits.com, or call (716) 699-4474.

Over by Kwik Fill in the new Village Center plaza at 5 East Washington St., you’ll find The Village Wine Rack, which relocated to its light-filled new digs last winter. The Wine Rack stocks an impressive selection of New York State wines, along with wines from California, Italy, France and more. Wine tastings are available daily, and the well-trained staff also can help you pair the perfect wine for your next cozy dinner or large party. Visit www.facebook.com/Villagewinerack, or call (716) 699-1042.

If you’re a fan of craft beers, you’ll love the selection available right here in Ellicottville at the Ellicottville Brewing Company (EBC) at 28 Monroe St. in the village and at John Harvard’s Brewery and Ale House in the Tamarack Club at Holiday Valley Resort.

EBC, which underwent an enormous expansion of its dining and brewing facilities over the past year, offers more than two dozen styles of its freshly brewed craft ales, lagers, Belgian beers and oak-aged beers, including several small-batch and limited release selections. The new space is quite impressive and there are some great stories about the sources of some of the architectural elements and brewing equipment, so be sure to sign up online for a tour, which includes a four-beer tasting and a souvenir EBC glass. Of course, you can try different varieties while enjoying lunch, happy hour and dinner, and afterwards, you can pick up a six-pack or growler to take home. To schedule your tour and read about each of EBC’s brews, visit www.ellicottvillebrewing.com.

John Harvard’s Brewery and Ale House at Holiday Valley is one of this award-winning craft brewery chain’s six locations. Its other locations are in the Boston, Massachusetts area, on Long Island, N.Y., and in Rhode Island.

Each location brews its beers on site to exacting specifications. The Ellicottville location offers 20 or more beers on tap — from light pale ales to heavier stouts — at any one time. John Harvard’s encourages connoisseurs to ask for a small sample of any beer they’d like to try, or you can order a “flight” of any five brews on tap from which to select a fave. John Harvard’s beers are available for carry out, as well, as is anything on its delicious dining menu.

If you’re in the mood for an even wider array of craft beers, or those of the domestic or international variety, both Tops Market and the Red Apple convenience store at Kwik Fill (both on East Washington Street in the center of the village) offer a huge selection of cold six packs and multi-packs for your entertaining pleasure. (Note: Beer is not sold in liquor stores in New York State.)

As far as stocking your bar goes, both E-Ville Spirits & Wines and the Village Wine Rack carry a terrific selection of vodkas, gins, whiskies, rums, tequilas, liqueurs, mixers and other essentials for any gathering.

Just don’t forget the ice! And please, don’t drink and drive.
