Ellicottville Sports Round-Up: Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity B-Ball Record Tournament Wins

The Ellicottville varsity girls’ basketball team won the Franklinville Tournament this weekend by beating the host team Franklinville Panthers 51-49 and improved their record to 2-1 overall under the direction of Chad Bartozek. Marisa Hamilton and Becca Golley were named to the All Tournament Team, and Marisa Hamilton was named Tournament MVP. They next play after Christmas at the Jock Shop/JCC Tournament.

The boys’ varsity team finished in second place at the Franklinville Tournament over the weekend, losing to the host team Franklinville Panthers. Cam Wilson and Tommy Easton were named to the All Tournament Team.

The Eagles Bowling team fell on some rough times over the past week with the girls losing 7 out of 8 to Gowanda and Cattaraugus-Little Valley. The girls were led by Courtney Scanlon with a 515 and a 596 series. Scanlon is also leading the county with a 176 average for the girls. The boys’ team finished the week 0-8 and were led by Dominic Campbell with a 180 game.

The Ellicottville Eagles 8-9 & 12-13 year old YMCA basketball teams continued their winning ways on Saturday with the 8-9 year olds coming back from a 16-point deficit to pull out a victory, and the 12-13 year olds winning again in convincing fashion.

In youth wrestling, Noah Morlock went to the North Tonawanda tourney on Sunday and beat the #1 ranked wrestler in his weight class to take home the first place trophy!
