“I’m actually giving this as a Christmas gift to a few friends this year,” said Journey Gunderson, executive director for the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy. “They had so much fun at the race and seeing Martin Short that we’re making it an annual Columbus Day weekend get-together.”

The 2014 Lucy Town Half Marathon is being organized by Chautauqua Striders, Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, and the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy. In 2013, the inaugural event saw over 700 participants run through downtown Jamestown, including runners from 27 different states and two countries. California, Colorado, Florida, Montana, and Nevada were just a few of the states represented by runners during the weekend.

The goal of the weekend is to promote a healthy lifestyle that includes both exercise and laughter. In 2013, a packed Reg Lenna Center for the Arts was treated to legendary comedian Martin Short during the race weekend. The headline comedian who will be performing during the 2014 race weekend will be announced at a later date in the coming months.

The USATF-certified courses begin and end in Lucille Ball’s hometown of Jamestown, N.Y. Additionally, the half marathon course runs through the neighboring towns of Lakewood and Celoron, and near locations such as Ball’s childhood home, the Lucy Desi Museum & Center for Comedy, a full-color “I Love Lucy” mural in downtown Jamestown, and the Lucille Ball Memorial Park.

The Lucy Town Half Marathon & 5K is proudly supported by its title sponsor, Univera Healthcare. Additional sponsors include Jamestown Area Medical Associates, Jamestown Pediatric Associates, The Legend Group, Shults Auto Group, WCA Hospital, and TV media sponsor Time Warner Cable News.
