The Professional Ski Instructors of America and the American Association of Snowboard Instructors (PSIA-AASI) is a national education association with the focus of promoting the sport of skiing and snowboarding. New skiers and snowboarders are the lifeblood of the snowsports industry and retention of a first-time skier/snowboarder is more easily achieved when that person has a fun (and, ideally, slam-free) first day out on the slopes. PSIA-AASI has tasked itself with establishing the certification standards for snowsports instructors and we here at HoliMont take pride in the commitment that many of our instructors have toward PSIA-AASI.
Naturally, we are even prouder to announce that our Snowsports Director, Wendy Frank, has been elected to the Board of Directors for PSIA-E (Professional Ski Instructors of America, Eastern Division) Region 5. Region 5 covers Western New York from Peek ‘n Peak in Findlay Lake on the west, to Greek Peak in Cortland, N.Y., on the east.
Wendy will have a large scope of responsibility for the region during her three-year term, and now HoliMont will have more of a voice in the professional organization with Wendy as a voting director. In the past, Wendy has served on the Children’s Committee for PSIA, and is currently the Region 5 representative for the PSIA-E Snowsports Management Committee, which organizes the Snowsports School Management seminar in December for members of all seven regions of PSIA-E from Maine to Tennessee. As a member of the board of directors, Wendy will be able to discover what Region 5 Snowsports Schools are looking for from PSIA-E, and be able to keep members in our region up to date on the latest policies and events.
This season, HoliMont Snowsports has been concentrating on PSIA-E’s new focus of “MORE FUN STARTS HERE,” by raising instructor and member awareness of how much fun it is to take a lesson from a PSIA/AASI trained instructor. Wendy has always been very active within the organization. To better serve our members and guests, she is looking forward to sharing the best from PSIA-E/AASI with the HoliMont Snowsports School staff. Congratulations to Wendy on her newly elected board of directors position.
