Ellicottville Sports Roundup

By Todd Palmatier

The spring sports scene has begun, and the Eagles are off to a slow start due to weather and Spring Break.

The varsity baseball team kicked off their season with a 15-6 loss to Bolivar-Richburg at ECS. The girls varsity softball team faced Bolivar-Richburg as well and was dealt a 15-0 defeat. The JV softball team has been seeing some action, while the varsity teams were waiting and have beaten Allegany-Limestone and lost hard-fought games to North Collins last week.

EVL Wrestling Club has finished their year and 6-year-old Noah Morlock participated in a National Wrestling tournament in Michigan last week and did very well. He placed fourth in his class, which earned Noah All-American status in his age and weight class. Congratulations to Noah!

ECLV Little League baseball is starting practices this week, and the future for baseball and softball looks bright for ECS and Cattaraugus/Little Valley. There are over 350 kids signed up from age 4 to 16.

This will be the first season for Junior League baseball and softball for ECLV. These are kids 13-14 years old. The league is still taking registrations for these age groups up to May 10. ECLV is also still looking for team sponsors in Catt/LV and a few in the Ellicottville district. If your business would like to sponsor a team, please contact Todd Palmatier at (716) 244-0964.

Although baseball season has just started, a friendly little reminder that Ellicottville Little Eagles football and cheer signups are right around the corner in May.

Last, but not least, the NFL draft is May 8 and hopefully the Bills get the right guy! And the Yankees are in first place!
