USMC Cpl. Alan Christopher Brown, age 23, of Jefferson St., Ellicottville, N.Y., left this world tragically and unexpectedly May 10, 2014.
A proud Marine, Alan served honorably overseas in two tours of the Afghanistan War. Among Alan’s many decorations are the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal.
Alan was an avid sportsman who enjoyed spending time fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hunting and camping. He was a quiet, loving person who was a loyal friend to many. Most recently, Alan worked for Magara Refrigeration and Heating of Salamanca and was enrolled to begin his studies in engineering at the University of Pittsburgh in the fall.
Alan was the precious son of Jeanne M. (nee Gregoire) Brown of Ellicottville, and Thomas F. (Linda Marie) Brown formerly of Machias, dearest brother of Carla (Matthew) Maul of Machias, U.S. Air Force Captain Erik T. (fiancée, Kristina Gortalova), Lucille (Andrew Cimino) of Cleveland, Ohio, and loving uncle to nieces, Lydia, Messina and Sofia Maul.
Family and friends are invited to a gathering Thursday evening, May 15 from 5-8 p.m. and a memorial service Friday morning, May 16 at 11 a.m., both to be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 6360 Route 242, Ellicottville.
