Jamestown Audubon Announces 2014 Nature Photo Contest

5-16-14-PR---Audubon-Photo-Contest---Edited

Jamestown — The Jamestown (NY) Audubon Society is encouraging anyone who enjoys photography — from beginners to professionals — to enter their images for consideration in the 2014 Nature Photography Contest.

“We have winter to finish and spring and summer coming before entries must be submitted,” said Audubon Center and Sanctuary Program Director Jennifer Schlick. “If you don’t have a photo you’ve already taken that you want to enter, there is plenty of time to get outdoors and do some shooting!”

The deadline for this fourth annual competition is June 30, 2014.

Schlick explained that part of Jamestown Audubon’s mission is to connect people with nature.

“The photo contest helps us fulfill that mission in two ways: The photographer connects with nature while making images and the viewer becomes inspired to connect with nature by seeing the images.”

She added that the purpose of the contest is to give photographers an outlet to share their work and have it judged, while at the same time inspiring others to connect with nature and raising money to support the work of the Audubon Center & Sanctuary in Jamestown, N.Y.

All entries are submitted electronically, making it a very simple process.

Prizes will be awarded in three categories and two divisions. The Youth Division is for ages 8-18 or still in high school; adult is 18 and over or post-high school.

Youth and adult winners in the categories of Landscapes, Plants, and Wildlife will all receive a $100 cash prize.
