Muddy, Slippery Fun Coming Next Weekend Annual Mudslide at Holiday Valley June 14

Carley

The third annual Mudslide Obstacle Run at Holiday Valley will once again be a sloppy, muddy fun time.

The course will throw 11 obstacles in the way as waves of competitors embark on two course options starting at 10 a.m., with the longer distance course runners starting first. The 3.5-mile course is a bit easier, but if you’re up for it, go for the 5.4-mile course that includes a bit of uphill running and ropes to help you on the steeps. Some new obstacles have been thrown in as secret surprises. No spoilers here!

The grand finale is a ride down a slippery mudslide, landing you at the base of Yodeler Lodge. Snowgun “showers” and changing facilities are available.

If you’re more of a spectator, then ride the chairlift to the top for only $5.

Holiday Valley’s Marketing Director, Jane Eshbaugh, remarked, “With a course that is mostly downhill and obstacles that are designed to challenge but not intimidate, the event attracts a wide variety of people of all ages and athletic abilities.”

Last chance to register is in person on Friday, June 13, at Yodeler Lodge from 4–8 p.m., or register now at www. Race day registration is not available. If you are already registered, come pick up your race packet that evening and listen to live entertainment by the Bleeding Hearts band from 6–10 p.m. Come enjoy a nice evening of corn hole or other games for some good clean fun before getting down and muddy the next day.

Registered competitors will receive a technical T-shirt, super cool finisher’s medal, goodie bag and a post-race party on the Champagne Deck with a hot dog two beers or other beverages, while DJ John Barry keeps the party hopping. Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be awarded to the most creative.

Prizes will also be awarded to the overall three fastest males and females. Chip timing and mat starts and finishes will be in place this year.

Kid’s half-mile Mini Mudslide Race has two obstacles plus the mudslide and costs $5 (ages 3 to 12). Register for kids’ event at Yodeler Deck. Race begins and ends at the Training Center and will start at approximately 1:30 p.m.
