Underground Railroad Talk at Cattaraugus County Museum

On Saturday, June 21, the Cattaraugus County Museum’s Cultural Series of programming will continue as archivist Karen Livsey will be on hand to give a talk on the Underground Railroad and its impact on our region, with an emphasis on Chautauqua County. Ms. Livsey, the archivist at the Fenton History Center in Jamestown, is a native of Chautauqua County who studied at JCC and SUNY Albany, where she received her bachelors and masters degrees. Having been involved in genealogical research for over 40 years, it was this pursuit that led her to an interest in the history of the Underground Railroad and its local ties.

The program will take place at 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The Cattaraugus County Museum is located in the Stone House, 9824 Rt. 16 in Machias. Feel free to call (716) 353-8200 with any questions.
