Summer Festival Mountain Party, Music, Food and More!
By Alicia Dziak
Ellicottville’s Summer Festival is here and it’s time to kick back and let loose!
The weekend kicks off with the Top of the Mountain Party, Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Ride the Mardi Gras lift to the top and enjoy carnival games and entertainment while taking in the spectacular views of the Enchanted Mountains. (While kids are welcome to attend, the party is geared toward adults.)
Ticketholders will receive an Ellicottville patriotic cocktail as they get on the Mardi Gras lift. Once to the top, guests will enjoy an upscale menu that includes mahi mahi tacos, steamed mussels, naan bread salad, grilled vegetables and more.
After you’ve built up your energy, it’s time for some games! Six adult carnival games with prizes are a guaranteed fun time, including such fun as a strong man contest and launching ping pong balls into a fish bowl.
The party is a perfect way to unwind, mingle with friends old and new, and take in the surrounding views on a perfect summer evening.
“We’re excited to host the new Top of the Mountain Party to kick off the Summer Festival weekend,” said Jane Eshbaugh, Holiday Valley’s marketing director. “What a great way to usher in summer and the Festival … a spectacular chairlift ride to the top, carnival games and good food. Fun is what Ellicottville is all about!”
Ticket sales for this event are now closed.
After the party, be sure to head back down to the Holiday Valley Cabana Bar for live music by the Sudden Urge Band, performing from 7:30–11 p.m.
Saturday, July 5 brings even more fun to Holiday Valley and the village, beginning with the 11 a.m. Pet Parade through the village. The HV Cabana Bar will host music by the Black & Blues Band from 3–7 p.m., followed by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra taking to the HV Open Air Stage at 8 p.m. The BPO will be playing a variety of patriotic music, as well as many songs from popular movies, such as Superman, Spiderman and Harry Potter.
Afterwards, stay for the fireworks, and see the resort and town lit up with blasts of beautiful color.
Head back to the village Sunday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. for the arts and crafts show and strawberry festival at the Ellicottville Gazebo.
The music continues with The Party Squad playing at the Cabana Bar from 3–7 p.m., and Nelson Starr and The Benjamins, followed by headliners the Gin Blossoms performing on the Open Air Stage at 7 p.m.
Of course, while spending the weekend in Ellicottville, carve out a couple hours to relax in the Holiday Valley pool complex or unwind with some golf. If you still have energy to burn, head over to Sky High to get a workout in the Aerial Park or Climbing Forest, or just sit back and relax as you whiz through the trees on the Mountain Coaster.
No matter how you spend the holiday weekend in Ellicottville, the Summer Festival has something for everyone — you won’t want to miss it!
“It is a full weekend of fun where there really is something that will appeal to every age of visitor, whether it is enjoying one of the concerts slopeside at Holiday Valley, enjoying the Pet Parade, the Strawberry Festival or finding that unique item at the Art and Craft show,” said Heather Snyder, media and communications coordinator for the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.
