Ladies, gentlemen and children are all invited to relax and enjoy a day at the lake by attending the Allegany Mountain Resort (formerly Rainbow Lake) 2014 fundraiser for Hospice of Western New York on Saturday, July 26.
The day starts with a walk around the lake at 9 a.m. followed by a children’s ceremony at 10:30 a.m., when live butterflies and balloons will be released in remembrance of the many children who lost their battle with cancer.
A three-course luncheon takes place at noon ($10 adult, $5 under 12) during which you will be entertained by a barbershop quartet and a fabulous comic fashion show. After lunch, there will be a watermelon eating contest. Like-new $5 purses will be for sale and dozens of gift baskets will be raffled with the drawing at 4 p.m.
A dance at 8 p.m. will be followed by a 9:15 p.m. candlelight ceremony in honor of deceased family and friends.
In 2010, Sue Young started doing fundraisers “to keep a promise to our lord I had made when I was dealing with breast cancer.”
The first three years, Sue held a fundraiser to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Association and in those three years she raised $15,000.
Last year, Sue raised over $4,000 for Hospice of Western New York.
“My husband (Bob) and I have both experienced the loss of spouses in the loving care of hospice, so we know firsthand what hospice is all about,” she said.
Make it a memorable fun day to remember your loved ones and help those who need the services hospice provides.
