The 32nd annual Allegany Heritage Days, sponsored by the Allegany Area Historical Association, will be held July 31 through Aug. 3. The focus this year is on the Allegany volunteer fire department.
The village and town of Allegany will open Heritage Days weekend with an Allegany get-together on Thursday, July 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Firemen’s Park on North First Street. The Allegany Alumni & Friends Band will play from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Allegany Rescue and EMS, Inc. will hold an open house at its ambulance garage at 186 North First St., from 5 to 8 p.m., and the Allegany Engine Company will have an open house at its facilities from 6 to 8 p.m.
Festivities on Saturday will be at the Heritage Center, 25 North Second St., and will begin at 10 a.m. with a display of fire department memorabilia, Country Cupboard sales, Allegany Central School class pictures and a quilt display. A fire engine will be on display at the Heritage Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Allegany Engine Company will have open house at the fire hall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Allegany Rescue and EMS, Inc. will have open house at their facility from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Allegany Alumni & Friends Band will play from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Food sales will start at 11 a.m. and the Ice Cream Social will begin at noon. Music by Chordiac Arrest will be presented from 1 to 3 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the Allegany Alumni Association will hold its annual dinner-dance at the Robert H. Livingston Community Center.
Rounding out the weekend will be the Street Classic Car Club Car Show on Sunday, Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Firemen’s Park on North First Street.
