The third annual Fiddler’s Green Country and Bluegrass Festival, sponsored by the Concord Historical Society, will be the next big event for Springville, Concord and the surrounding areas.

The event will be held on Saturday, July 26, with festivities on Franklin St. from the Fiddler’s Green Park to the Concord Historical Society’s circa 1890’s General Store at Franklin and Main Streets, in the village of Springville, according to Joel and Jean Maul, co-chairmen of the festival.

The first Fiddle Fest was held in 2012 as part of the Town of Concord’s Bicentennial Celebration. For 2013, the name was changed slightly in order to recognize the early name for the Springville/Concord area, “Fiddler’s Green.”

Six bands will provide continuous country and bluegrass music from noon to 6 p.m.

City Fiddle, The Sunset Bluegrass Band and The Bluegrass Disciples will be performing at the Fiddler’s Green Park Gazebo.

The John Boys, The Mercantile Musicians and  the Niagara Frontier Fiddlers  will complete the musical performances on the Concord Mercantile porch.

An open acoustic jamming entertainment tent has been added for 2014.

In addition, the festival committee will have crafters, food vendors, a Colonial encampment in Fiddler’s Green Park and historical demonstrations such as blacksmithing, tinsmithing, butter churning and wood-spoon  carving throughout the festival area.

Boy Scout Troop 524 will be providing Wendel’s famous chicken barbecue dinners at the Town Hall.

The Pop Warner Historical Museum, the Concord Mercantile 1890’s General Store and the Historical Society Carriage House will be open all day for guided tours.

The WNY Clogger Association will be conducting clogging workshops at the Town Hall, as well as offering clogging lessons for the general public upstairs in the Concord Town Hall at 1:15 p.m.

The Springville Post Office will extend their lobby hours until 4 p.m. so visitors can step inside to see the original 1938 Victoria Huntley “Fiddler’s Green” mural in the lobby.

A community round and square dance will be held Saturday evening in the Town Hall from 6 – 9:30 p.m.  Homemade Jam will provide the music for dancing and Pete Boberg will call the square dances. The WNY Cloggers Association will be performing during the intermission at the square dance and the winner of the 1975 Vintage Guild Guitar Raffle and the Fiddle Raffle will be announced. Refreshments, door prizes and raffle tickets will be available at the Saturday evening dance.

Enjoy a fun-filled day and evening in the heart of the Springville—meet new people, hear some great music and dance the night away!
