Arts Council Member Show Call for Entries

No Size Limitations this Year

The Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) is currently accepting entries for their 2014 Member Show. Artists are invited to submit works of any size for consideration and accepted works will be exhibited at the Olean Public Library Gallery and the Center Gallery on JCC’s Olean campus from Sept. 20 through Oct. 25.

This is a great and inexpensive way to present your work to the public and just might lead you down a fulfilling, creative path. Who knows what will happen next.

All current and soon-to-be CCAC members may submit up to three works online between now and Aug. 15 for a total entry fee of $25 and at least one will be chosen by jury. Artists will receive notification of acceptance by the end of August. All selected original artwork is to be delivered to JCC’s Olean campus, framed or presented for display, on Sept. 8 or 9, 2014. Artists must be CCAC members and memberships can be purchased online or at the CCAC office.

New for 2014, CCAC will exhibit works in both the Center Gallery at Jamestown Community College and the Olean Public Library Gallery. With the addition of a second gallery space, there will be no size limitations as in past years.

Jurors for this year’s exhibition will include Sharon McConnell, gallery director of the Fosdick-Nelson Gallery at Alfred University and Sara Zak, visual artist and community arts organizer. The jurors will award a Best of Show and two Honorable Mentions. Award winners will receive a group show at JCC’s Center Gallery in early 2015.

Friends, family and the public will be welcome to an opening reception on Sept. 20, from 6–7 p.m. at the Olean Public Library and 7–9 p.m. at the JCC Center Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public and will feature hors d’oeuvres and happy hour refreshments. The exhibition will be open until Oct. 25.
