Weekend Brings More Rally in the Valley Events

Even though Rally in the Valley is already underway, there’s still plenty of fun to enjoy this weekend.

On Thursday night, come to the Street Dance on Laurens Street in Olean, 7–10 p.m. Activities include line dancing, games, the Rally Harley Davidson Raffle, and music by WEST. Food will be provided by Sparky’s Pizza with Certo Brothers beverages.

The Rally kick starts on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with a motorcycle from the Olean Middle School parking lot on Wayne Street to Bradner Stadium. The Rally encourages all to wear pink to the rally in honor of breast cancer survivors and loved ones. Enter your rides in the annual bike show Friday. The public decide who has the best bikes with awards in nine categories.

Four parachutists from Free Fall Oz who will also “drop” into the stadium around 7 p.m. Be part of the jump by taking a chance on their Drop in on the Plate contest. A fireworks show, presented by Mike’s Hard Lemonade, will happen once it is dark. A free concert will feature The Porcelain Bus Drivers. The Rally will also present the seventh annual BYOBW — Bring your Own Big Wheel Adult Race until 11 p.m.

Stroehmann’s/BIMBO Bakeries Saturday Fun & Games will be Aug. 23. The stadium will turn into a street festival with a variety of activities including bike contests, bands, foods and vendors 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Test your motorcycling skills and balance at the Biker Rodeo. Compete for a chance to win cash prizes. Caricatures by Eric Jones will be drawing some cartoon of folks 1-3 p.m. Musical entertainment on Saturday includes The Girls noon–3 p.m., Fat Brat 4–7 p.m. and Trolls 8–11 p.m.

Back again on Saturday only, the Rally will host the Street Masters Car Show in War Veterans Park. The events will be connected via the tunnel under East State Street. Hotrods, Ratrods, Kustoms, Classics, Muscle, Original, Burnfinds, Gassers, Drag Cars, Bikes … come down and be a part of the show. Car registration begins 9 a.m. with dash plaques to the first 100 cars. Also appearing — locally owned Sheila G’s 7-second rear engine rail dragster of Ed McCleaft from Shinglehouse, Pa.

At this year’s Leisure Time Powersports Sunday Dice Run, bikes will run a 120-mile Poker Run on Aug. 24 ending at Bradner Stadium. The bikers will compete for $2,000 in cash prizes. Automobiles will complete a 50-mile poker run and compete for $500 in cash prizes.

Registration for the Dice Run is $15 for driver and $15 for passenger. Registration for the Poker Run is $10 for driver and $10 for any passengers. The registration fees include a $7 food voucher and chances to win the prizes.

The Hootn’Anges will provide music from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Other activities include a Corn Hole Tournament.

Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce and the Olean Area Motorcycle Enthusiasts are raffling off a Harley Davidson 2014 Brilliant Silver Pearl Street Glide FLHX during the 12th Annual Rally in the Valley! The raffle ticket offers first prize of the Street Glide; second prize, the 2014 Polaris Sportsman 570 EFI ATV; third prize, the 2014 Carmate V-Nose 7×12 Enclosed Trailer, plus a host of other prizes.

Tickets are available for $20 each or three tickets for $50 with a limit of 3,000 tickets to be sold. Winner will be announced on Aug. 24. Purchase tickets before the event at Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, Poor Cow Leather, Rally committee members and during the Rally event.

Charities and community organizations benefiting this year include HomeCare/Hospice; Child Advocacy Center; Olean Airport Marketing Group; Olean Food Pantry; Genesis House; Dream It Do It; Dempsey Club; Allegany/Olean Youth Wrestling; Boy Scouts; and the Salvation Army.
