Routes to Art Holiday Sale Nov. 16 in Ellicottville

Holiday Valley Lodge to Host Nearly 30 Artists

The Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) is pleased to present the fifth annual Routes to Art Holiday Sale, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Holiday Valley Lodge in Ellicottville from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Routes to Art Holiday Sale is one-stop shopping experience at its unique and handcrafted best, and this year it will include work from nearly 30 regional artists.

Tina Hastings, executive director of the Cattaraugus County Arts Council, stated that the location is perfect for a holiday sale.

“We are thrilled to again welcome visitors to Holiday Valley for this year’s event. Holiday Valley has been so supportive of our regional artists and the lodge overlooking the slopes provides a stunning backdrop for the Holiday Sale. Instead of shopping in a mall from store to store, shoppers can make their way from booth to booth finding original, handcrafted, one-of-a kind, affordable holiday gifts,” she said.

Regional artists will display and sell many cash-and-carry items. Shoppers can expect to find cards, books, prints, jewelry, pottery, ornaments, as well as paintings, stained glass, basket weaving, woodcarving, photography and more.

The Routes to Art program is designed to promote the collective arts community while advancing cultural tourism and enhancing enjoyment of life in the Southern Tier.

Starting in 2015, Routes to Art will transition to a year-round open studio program and will include the November Holiday Sale, an online artist directory, and a spring exhibition at the Jamestown Community College Olean campus, where you will be able to preview work by participating artists.

New for next year, the traditional May open studio tour weekend will change to a one-day event where visitors can view and purchase work and watch artist demonstrations — all in one centralized location.

During the Nov.  16, 2014, Routes to Art Holiday Sale, artists will accept cash, checks and credits cards.
