Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail Bike Raffle Winners Announced

Bike-Winner

County Encourages Attendance at Trails Meeting Oct. 22

If you were in the village during Fall Festival last weekend, you surely noticed the two beautiful bikes ready to be raffled as a fundraiser for the Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail building project.

The two generously donated bicycles were drawn on Sunday. Congratulations go to Margie Magara, who won the mountain bike donated by the family of Alan Brown, and to Debbie Stein, winner of the cruiser, donated by Bike and Bean Shop. The bicycle fundraiser raised approximately $3,760 for the trail.

The bike raffle was the Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail Committee’s first official fundraising event, with a goal of beginning construction on the first section of the trail between the Town Center and Route 219 (near Tim Hortons) in 2015. The trail committee is eagerly waiting to find out if they landed a grant through the New York Transportation Enhancement Program (TEP), which could be sizable. The news is expected very soon.

The trail’s master plan, designed by a professional trail planner, has been completed and will soon be presented to Town and Village Planning Boards.

The EVGV Trail is an investment in the community and will provide local residents and out-of-town visitors with a new four-season, multi-use trail in the next few years, creating a safe and easy way to connect to local businesses, schools, the public library, parks, Holiday Valley, HoliMont and other recreational destinations.

As the project moves forward to the first phase of construction, your support and donations are needed more than ever. You can help by investing this great project with a generous tax-deductible donation. You can donate online at cattfoundation.org, or mail your check payable to Ellicottville-Great Valley Trail Fund, c/o Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation, 120 N. Union St., Olean, NY 14706.
