To the Town and Village of Ellicottville voters:
This Election Day, on the top of the ballot, there will be a proposition to abolish the elected office of Town Superintendent of Highways and create the appointed office of Town Superintendent of Highways. A YES vote on this proposition will not affect the current Town Superintendent of Highways elected status. If approved, the local law will take effect at the end of the current term or upon the retirement or resignation of Dave Golley.
Currently, the Town Board has no control over the position. When people complain to members of the Town Board, the board can’t do anything about it.
Also, at the end of the current term, are we going to have a qualified person run for the position? Or, like a neighboring town, are we going to have a Highway Superintendent that doesn’t come to work?
This is very important and very serious. We have elected five people to be on the Town Board. Their job is to run our town. It’s time to let them run ALL of it. PLEASE VOTE YES ON TUESDAY.
