If you’ve never been to The Woods at Bear Creek, it’s a great time of year to check it out. The glamping (which stands for “glamorous camping”) resort, nestled in the hills of Franklinville between Routes 242 and 16, opened to the public this past summer. Heading into their first winter, they have tons of fun lined up for you.

This weekend, enjoy “The Experience,” a complete dinner for two for only $100. The unique menu includes two salads, bread with olive butter, an entree platter featuring duck breast, elk tenderloin, rabbit toffee and wild game meatball, barley risotto, basmati rice, five bean cassoulet, quinoa and couscous medley, and s’mores cheesecake for dessert. Enjoy this opportunity to try some new dishes, prepared by chef Dale Dils at the resort’s restaurant, Hutch’s on the Lake, and take in stunning views of the lake.

Next up: Thanksgiving. Make it easy on yourself — spend less time cooking and more time catching up with friends and family by dining at The Woods. On Thursday, Nov. 27 (Thanksgiving Day), The Woods will host their Thanksgiving dinner from noon to 8 p.m. Guests will enjoy a family-style meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, yams, corn, garden salad, rolls and a slice of pumpkin pie to top it all off. The price is $19 for adults and $10 for children under 10 years old. Why not start a new tradition

“It is great food at a reasonable price
without doing any work,” said Michael Crimi, executive director at The Woods at Bear Creek.

Other special food nights include their Tuesday and Thursday night three course wine dinner for two, Wednesday night all-you-can-eat pasta, $10 fish fry Fridays, and NFL football specials with 50 cent wings.

On Saturday, Dec. 13, stop back for the first annual Christmas Tree Lighting. The evening, from 5 to 9 p.m., promises to be a festively fabulous time. Highlights include music, donuts, hot chocolate and cider, wagon rides, the tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m., Christmas caroling, dancing and kids’ activities beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $7 for children under 10, or free with a donation of a new, unwrapped toy to go to Toys for Tots.

“It is for a good cause to benefit Toys for Tots. It will be a great tradition to start in the community and a fun, safe activity for families,” Crimi explained.

With the holidays just around the corner, everyone is looking for that perfect gift idea. Why not give the gift of a winter getaway?
