The Ellicottville Food Pantry, located at the United Church of Ellicottville, is sponsoring its first ever Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thursday, November 27 at 12 p.m. (noon).
The free meal, which will include roast turkey and all of the trimmings, is the brainchild of pantry co-directors Shelly Kibby and Annie Widger, who know firsthand that many members of the community have nowhere to go to celebrate the holiday with others. The event is open to those of all ages, races, religions and socioeconomic levels.
“We think that many of our community members who have no Thanksgiving plans – for whatever reason – would love to have a place to go to share a meal and a conversation on Thanksgiving,” Widger said. “We don’t know how many people will join us, but even if only one person comes, it will be a success,” she added.
Reservations are not necessary, so if your plans are cancelled at the last minute, you are more than welcome to join the festivities.
Volunteers are needed! For more information or to get involved, please call Kibby at 804-387-4807 or Widger at 716-378-9419.
