It’s February—the month of hearts, red roses and professing your undying love to your sweetie! Come Valentine’s Day, many women will be showing off their new bling in the form of a diamond engagement ring, and what better time to start planning an upcoming wedding than the present?
Ellicottville boasts some of the most beautiful scenery around, and if you’re looking for full-service venues for your dream day, look no further than the slopes of Holiday Valley and HoliMont.
It’s hard to imagine a more memorable location than Holiday Valley, which offers wedding services from May 1 through mid November, just before Thanksgiving.
Choosing the perfect location for the ceremony is easy when you have so many options.
“The Champagne Sundeck, located just outside the Yodeler Lodge, is a gorgeous outdoor patio offering couples two unique options for an on-site ceremony,” said Katelyn Mueller, Certified Wedding & Event Planner (CWEP) and Assistant Catering Sales Manager for Centerplate at Holiday Valley, which provides food and beverage services for the resort. “The first option is in front of the natural flowing waterfall and the second is under the pavilion in front of a stone fireplace. This location is reserved for couples having their reception at the Yodeler Lodge.”
“The Tamarack Green overlooking the golf course or the Resort Services Deck with the Mardi Gras lift in the background are the onsite ceremony locations reserved for couples having their reception at the Holiday Valley Lodge,” explained Mueller.
“The Tannenbaum Lodge features an indoor ceremony location for smaller ceremonies of 100 or less,” Mueller added.
Need yet another option? “A hill-top ceremony is also offered as an option to all couples,” Mueller said. “They would ride either the Mardi Gras or Yodeler chair lift to the top of the hill and be married with a gorgeous view overlooking the valley.”
Following the ceremony, Holiday Valley offers reception space at all three of its beautiful lodges.
The second floor of the Holiday Valley Lodge can accommodate 80 to 280 guests, Yodeler Lodge can accommodate 150 to 230 guests and Tannenbaum Lodge can accommodate 50 to 150 guests.
Meals are catered by Centerplate at Holiday Valley, with a wide array of mouth-watering and unique food and beverage packages.
“Among the most popular items on our menu is the Martini Mashed Potato Bar,” explained Mueller. “We offer a Neapolitan potato and a rustic mashed potato, both served in martini glasses with assorted toppings so guests can load their potato to their liking! One trend that has become popular over the past year is late night snacks incorporating a ‘taste of home’ for the couple. One couple from Rochester plans to have ‘garbage plates’ that we have customized to combine their favorite aspects of Rochester’s famous garbage plate. For our many couples from Buffalo and surrounding areas, we offer mini beef-on-weck sliders, Buffalo wings, and a soft pretzel bar as late night options.”
For many, a wedding isn’t just a one-day event. By heading to Holiday Valley, the bride and groom can offer their guests a weekend filled with memories and fun.
“Holiday Valley is a destination wedding close to home!” Mueller said. “The wedding party and guests can make their big day last all weekend with all the activities the resort has to offer, including golf, Sky High, the mountain coaster and poolside Cabana Bar. The John Harvard’s Brew House is the perfect spot for a rehearsal dinner and after party! We even offer Mr. & Mrs. Breakfast packages for the morning after the reception.”
And if you’re looking for that “wow” factor, look no further. “Create a cocktail hour like no other by offering chairlift rides on the Yodeler, Mardi Gras or Spruce chair lifts. We can greet your guests at the top of the mountain with champagne and strawberries for that extra special touch!” Mueller noted.
Of course, guests at an amazing wedding need an amazing place to stay. All couples receive a complimentary room at the Inn at Holiday Valley on the night of their wedding reception. The Inn will also work with couples to reserve a block of rooms at special wedding rates. Couples also can reserve rooms at the Tamarack Club based on availability.
The amazing Holiday Valley and Centerplate staff work with couples every step of the way, and even provides the couple with a detailed list of preferred vendors, such as photographers, florists and salons. “All the vendors on our list have been hand selected over the years,” Mueller explained, noting that these are just recommendations and there is no obligation to use them.
“Holiday Valley caters to each couple’s unique style and taste by offering a wide array of menu items and reception enhancements. Our wedding professionals work personally with each couple to make sure no detail is missed,” Mueller said.

Members and non-members alike are invited to hold their wedding at HoliMont, where guests have their choice of ceremony locations: inside the chalet lodge, outside the lodge in front of the slopes or on top of the hill via a chairlift ride.
After the ceremony, guests can enjoy a reception at the beautiful chalet, with both indoor and outdoor space, which, with the help of HoliMont’s talented decorators, is transformed into an elegant and inviting venue, incorporating the couple’s personal style. HoliMont can accommodate weddings with up to 400 guests.
Catering for weddings is provided by Dina’s at the Mont, and couples can choose from a diverse menu selection that’s sure to satisfy. “Dina’s at the Mont customizes every menu to satisfy the bride and groom’s taste and budget,” said Dina DiPasquale of Dina’s.
