Parents, are you looking for activities to keep your elementary-aged kids engaged during their spring vacation? Do they enjoy art? Then sign them up for the Spring Break Art Camp at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) from Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3. Kids will have fun exploring their creativity and learning new skills in small groups with individualized attention.
New artists (ages 4-7) can join ArtVenture Monday through Friday from 9-10 a.m. The artists will travel the world of art from the comfort of the CCAC studio and discover different mediums each day. Projects will include painting with straws, making a sun catcher, creating a woven painting, and learning traditional felting techniques.
The second daily ArtVenture class, starting at 10:30 a.m. and ending at 12 p.m., is for young artists ages 7-11. These artists will expand their knowledge into less well-known techniques while building fun and functional artwork. They will work on Henna painting, Matisse paper bowls, felting, pointillism landscapes and op-art drawing.
Art Camp classes will be taught by Ardyth Van Scoy, a Fine Arts graduate of St. Bonaventure.
The week-long camp is $65 per child, and includes all project supplies. The classes are held at the CCAC studio, 100 West Main Street, Allegany, New York. Please register by telephone at (716) 372-7455 or online at www.myartscouncil.net.
