JimHoweConcerts presents Penny Whiskey in a St. Patrick’s Day Concert on Friday, March 20 at 8 p.m. at the Mongerson Theater at Springville Center for the Arts (SCA), at 37 N Buffalo Street in Springville.
The brainchild of Kirk McWhorter from the critically acclaimed Celtic band Kilbrannan, Penny Whiskey offers the best in acoustic music from both Ireland and Scotland, along with home grown bluegrass and folk influences.
With audience participation, rousing pub songs, comedy tunes and tearful ballads, the band offers a variety that is perfectly fit for a Friday night anywhere in the vicinity of St. Patrick’s Day. McWhorter plays guitar, banjo, bodhran and whistles, backed up by Jon Carlson on acoustic guitar and mandolin, Dan Lelito on bass and Springville resident Paul Kneis supplying the flash on mandolin, guitar and flute. Of course, everybody sings… including the audience!
Tickets are $10 presale at SpringvilleArts.org or by calling (716) 592-9038, or $12 at the door.
