Varsity Baseball

On Wednesday, April 15, Robert Sawicki went the distance and struck out six batters, walked one and only gave up four hits, but Ellicottville still fell to Randolph 3-2 in seven innings on at Randolph Central School.

Austin Mitchell won the pitcher’s duel for Randolph on the way to the win. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Mitchell struck out nine, walked three and gave up three hits.

After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, Ellicottville faced a 3-2 deficit but could not complete the comeback. Robert Sawicki, Griffin Chudy and Caleb Rinko each had one hit for Ellicottville.

On Saturday, April 18, Ellicottville played a double-header against Cattaraugus-Little Valley/Salamanca and fell short in both games.

Game one left ECS behind with a 5-4 score. Kyle O’Donnell got the win for Cattaraugus-Little Valley/Salamanca. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered five hits.

Tyler Slaughenhaupt was on the mound for Ellicottville and walked four, struck out three and allowed seven hits. The Eagles offense was led by Hunter Ostricker’s two for three outing and Phalla Musall’s RBI double. Robert Sawicki and Jonas Hurlburt also added RBI singles for Ellicottville.

Ellicottville racked up four hits, but it wasn’t enough, as the Eagles lost 12-3 in game 2 of the double header.

Griffin Chudy had an impressive relief outing against the Catt-LV/Salamanca lineup with one earned run, two walks and three strike-outs during his 3 1/3 innings of work. Ellicottville’s offense was also sparked by Phalla Musall who added his second double of the day and Josh Garthwaite’s first single of the season.

Matt Hanft got the win for Cattaraugus-Little Valley/Salamanca. He allowed one run over one inning. He walked one and surrendered one hit.

Varsity Softball

On Wednesday, April 15, the Eagles Varsity Softball team was defeated by Randolph 14-12.  ECS had 14 hits, but came up short. Morgan Zlockie, Alexis Woodin and Sydney Smith had two hits each.

On Saturday, April 18, the Eagles defeated Salamanca 6- 5.  Evie Cortez and Cheyenne Maybee each had two hits and pitcher Linnea Jimerson had three scoreless innings on the mound.

On Tuesday, April 21, the Eagles defeated Forestville 6-5.  Evie Cortez had three strikeouts on the mound and recorded the victory.

The team’s current record is 4-2.
