June 5-7, Ellicottville transforms into all things cycling for the second annual Cycling Weekend, a.k.a. Cycle Ellicottville, where cycling enthusiasts from all over meet up to enjoy three days of cycling fun.
While the weekend is jam-packed with group rides, clinics and light instruction, participants will also get their fill of social activities, like the Friday evening gathering at the Inn at Holiday Valley with displays from local bike shops, beer tasting, cash bar and hors d’oeuvres, and open time for pools, Sky High Adventure Park and shopping.
Cyclists who are up for the challenge can take part in Friday’s 20-mile warm-up ride, a 40-mile ride on Saturday and a ride through Amish country on Sunday that covers 80 miles. Cattaraugus County offers scenic bike riding with a variety of terrain for all to enjoy, and these three guided rides are the perfect opportunity to explore with other like-minded folks.
Sound like fun? There’s still time to sign up! Call (800) 323-0020 to reserve an Inn at Holiday Valley Lodging package. Or, if you don’t require lodging and would prefer to participate in Sunday’s ride only, you can join the fun for only $25, which includes a guided ride to Amish country with a sag wagon, snacks provided on the ride and lunch at Holiday Valley upon your return.

In the spirit of Cycling Weekend, more fun awaits on Monroe Street in the Village of Ellicottville, where mountain-bike performer Schwinny takes center stage. Schwinny is a 15-year veteran of the professional mountain biking circuit and is set to wow the crowd with flat land and ramp tricks on Saturday at noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., and on Sunday at noon and 3 p.m. Shows are free and open to the public.
Cycling Weekend is another great opportunity to enjoy the warm weather outdoors in Ellicottville and the Enchanted Mountains. With a mix of exercise, sightseeing and fun, it’s a weekend you won’t want to miss!
