Jessica Breanne Dunkleman, daughter of Wayne and Kami Dunkleman of Cornersville, TN, and granddaughter of Wayne and Linda Dunkleman of Little Valley, NY, was awarded the Naval Reserve Officer Training (Marine Corps option) Scholarship on Tuesday, May 12.
The award was presented by USMC Major Wagner and USMC Sergeant Robinson.
Dunkleman was one of nine students in the southeastern U.S. selected by a board of Marine Corps officers to receive this award, which includes a full tuition scholarship of $180,000.
The selection process for this scholarship is rigorous and highly competitive. Exhibiting toughness and academic savvy, as well as high achievement on test scores, were all qualifications for receiving this award.
Dunkleman also was the recipient of several other scholarships. She was presented with the LEO Club Scholarship of $100 for her work and dedication in serving as club president. Additionally, she received the Horseman’s Association Scholarship of $500 and the U.S. Army Reserve National Army Athlete Award.
Dunkleman will be attending the University of Auburn in the fall and, after graduation, will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
