Ellicottville Memorial Library News

NEW! Kids’ Summer Reading Program begins July 6 – “Every Hero has a Story” is this summer’s theme. The July 14 theme is “Super Hero Foods.” We will also be hosting programs on super heroes, heroes in our community and super hero animals, to name a few, with lots of prizes, contests and programs for kids of all ages.  Come join us on July 14 at 1 p.m. and learn all about super hero foods.

Teens Write 2015! – This is the third year that the Chautauqua Cattaraugus Library System has sponsored a teen writing competition, and we are proud to say that Ellicottville kids have won each year so far.  If you are a teen between 13 and 18 and you like to write, here is your opportunity. Just go to for rules and registration information.  Any questions, just contact the library.

Telescope Available – The Ellicottville Memorial Library now offers a telescope for loan just as you would check out a book.  All that is required is a current library card. You must be age 17 or older and attend a short (about 15 minutes) scope orientation session at the library before check-out.

Artwork at the Library – Currently we have artwork in our gallery area that was created by local photographer Cathy Peters. Peters, who splits her time between a farm in Western NY and the desert of Arizona, enjoys taking photos of flora and fauna from both areas. Come check out these interesting photos.

Knitting Club – The knitting club meets every Monday and alternates between evenings from 6-8 p.m. and afternoons from 2-4 p.m. All abilities welcome – just bring some yarn and your needles. The July 13 meeting is from 2-4 p.m. and the July 20 meeting is from 6-8 p.m.

Story time is every Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. – Check out our website for more information on new arrivals of books, coming events and classes, and browse the system catalog for books, eBooks and movies.
