Village planning board members enthusiastically approved plans for architectural revisions to the rear of Ellicottville’s iconic 1887 school building, which is being restored and renovated to create a new condominium property.
The historically significant property is being developed by Ellicottville’s John Northrup and Peter Krog, CEO of the Krog Corporation.
The only exterior changes that require planning board approval are on the rear of the building, which had an addition that has been removed. Now several windows must be replaced and a new entrance to the underground parking area has been designed to conform to the architectural and historic integrity of the building. The architect explained that some windows may need to be fire-rated according to code.
The planning board also approved Tips Up Restaurant’s plans to replace windows on the second story front and sides of the building and to add sky lights to the dormer roof to allow more light into the upstairs dining area.
And, the board approved architectural plans for a new two-story frame home that will be constructed on what is now a vacant lot at 18 Elizabeth Street.
The next meeting of the Village Planning Board will be held on Tuesday, August 11 at 5:30 in the village/town hall.
