Get out of the house and come join in the fun as Allegany State Park continues its new series of hikes called “3rd Saturday Treks.” As the name implies, these free, family-friendly hikes will take place on the third Saturday of each month from March through October. The treks will be led by park staff, members of the Allegany State Park Friends Group, or Historical Society members and each will focus on a different area of the park.
This month’s trek will take place on Aug. 15. Participants will take a hike around beautiful Red House Lake with Paul Crawford of the Allegany State Park Friends Group. Come check out the plants and animals that make the lake area their home. Paul may even throw in some local history and some lake trivia as well. Attendees are asked to meet at the Red House Picnic Area Parking Lot at 10 a.m. and to come dressed for the weather.
The hike will last approximately two hours. Registration is not required. For more information, visit the Allegany State Park Facebook page or contact Katie Vecellio at (716) 354-9101 x236 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
