New York State requires children to be properly immunized before school starts this fall, so parents: get those doctors’ appointments scheduled!
Children entering all grades (up to age 18) are required to have vaccinations or boosters. Your doctor will let you know what your child needs, and will provide a signed verification that your child has been appropriately immunized. That document must be submitted to your school’s nurse.
The National Association of School Nurses has prepared a handy Back-to-School Checklist for parents that can help your children stay healthy throughout the school year. Visit www.nasn.org/ToolsResources/BacktoSchoolToolkit.
