Kaleigh E. Hunt, a senior at Ellicottville High School, has been named a 2016 National Merit Scholarship semi-finalist, one of 16,000 semi-finalists in the U.S. who will compete for 7,600 scholarships worth some $32 million.
Hunt is one of 23 Western New York students — and the only student from Cattaraugus County – to achieve the distinction.
Semi-finalists are the top scorers among the 1.5 million U.S. students who took the PSAT/NMSQT (National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) in October 2014 and met the competition’s entry requirements. Finalists will be announced in February 2016 and Scholarship Award Winners will be notified beginning in March.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance.
Congratulations Ms. Hunt!
