ECS Opens New Space in Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Ribbon-Cutting

The new multi-purpose gymnasium and all the other new spaces at Ellicottville Central School opened during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the school on Sunday, Sept. 20. The ceremony featured student musical performances and speeches from board, administration and student leaders.

School Board President Carl Calarco thanked the community, the ECS staff, the students, the project’s architect and construction managers and Superintendent Mark Ward for their critical roles in making the project a reality.

With the opening of the new facilities, “this District is firing on all cylinders right now,” he said. “While many of our neighboring districts are experiencing…hardships, we are experiencing quite the opposite,” he said, pointing to increased enrollment, high state test scores, increased participation in sports, new staff and courses, success in extra-curricular programs and financial stability.

The highlight of the event was when one child from each grade stood in a row on stage to hold the extra-long ribbon, which was cut by Superintendent Mark Ward.
