Calling all ski racers, parents and coaches! Join us for our annual Race Weekend, Oct. 17-18 and meet US Ski Team member and two time Olympic medalist, Andrew Weibrecht.
Weibrecht will be at Mud Sweat N’ Gears (MSG) on Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. for poster signing, selfies, etc. Athletes and parents will have the opportunity to talk with Weibrecht and learn why he is regarded as one of the most humble, hard-working athletes on the US Ski Team.
Weibrecht was born in Lake Placid, NY and grew up ski racing at Whiteface Mountain. Weibrecht races in all five disciplines (slalom, giant slalom, combined, Super G and downhill) but specializes in Super G.
Weibrecht made his World Cup debut at Beaver Creek in 2006, and became a full time World Cup racer in 2008. According to the usskiteam.com, Andrew Weibrecht, nicknamed “warhorse,” is a cannonball on snow and will take the riskiest and fastest line possible, which makes him one of the most exhilarating athletes to watch on the World Cup.”
Weibrecht is known for sharing his passion for ski racing, and spends time in the summer as a guest coach at Ligety Weibrecht Ski Camp in Mount Hood, Oregon (skicampsinc.com) Weibrecht shares his secrets for speed and his lifelong experience on snow.
