The 5X7 Art for Everyone Exhibition and Sale produced by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) is an annual fundraiser supporting CCAC programs. “Art for Everyone” has a dual meaning. Each donated 5”X7” piece is sold for an affordable $25, making it possible for everyone to own the art, and the donated artworks are created by people from all walks of life – professional artists, artisans, crafters, students, local notables, politicians, the general public, and that means you too! There is plenty of time for you to get into the show with your 5X7 piece. The festive party and sale is Saturday, December 5, at 6 p.m. and is sponsored by our generous patron of the arts, Fox Financial. Artwork must be received at CCAC by November 30.
The artwork must be ready to hang as a 5”X 7” piece. Most media are acceptable – drawings, paintings, photographs, textiles, metal work, ceramic tiles – as long as they are light weight, ready to hang, and un-framed. Even jewelry can be submitted if it is mounted on a 5”X 7” foam core backing. Mats can be used, but the final piece must be 5” X 7” overall.
Please only sign the piece on the back. All artists are to remain anonymous until after the pieces are purchased. However, artists’ names will be used in the promotion of the event and buyers will receive the artists’ contact information with their purchase.
The evening is a lively affair with buyers vying for their favorite pieces. Value and name recognition are leveled in this sale while fun and suspense is increased. One by one, thirty first-pick ticket holders ($50 per person) get to choose up to three pieces. After the first-pick ticket holders have chosen, all remaining artwork is available. Any remaining pieces at the end of the night will remain for sale through the holiday season.
If you are interested in donating a piece, or two, or ten, go to 5X7 on the Events page of the CCAC website, www.myartscouncil.net for more details and to register, or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please register by November 27 and deliver or mail artwork to CCAC by November 30.
