The EVL Half and 5K makes its way into town for the second year in a row this weekend for a fun-filled event, sure to get feet movin’ and hearts racin’.
On Saturday, Oct. 24, the village will be filled with decked out runners competing in races of two distances.
Both the half marathon (11 a.m. start) and the 5K (11:15 a.m. start) begin and end in the heart of town at 5 Monroe Street.
While the scenery in itself gives competitors something to look at along the way, add in an array of cool, scary and just plain fun costumes, and you’ve got yourself a memorable race and a great way to enjoy fall, Ellicottville-style.
Runners will follow it up with a post-race party at Ellicottville Brewing Company (EBC), where the 5K awards will be given at 12:30 p.m., followed by the half marathon awards at 2:30 p.m.
For the top runners, prizes include custom designed medals, as well as men’s and women’s shirts for the top half marathon and 5K finishers in a variety of age groups and categories.
In addition, costume awards will be given by Watson’s Chocolates for best group, best individual, funniest, scariest, most girly, best kid and best in show.
If you’re signed up, you can pick up your race packet Friday evening and Saturday morning at EBC.
The 5K is sold out, but there may be open spots left for the half marathon. Online registration is open until midnight on Friday, Oct. 23, or stop by registration Saturday morning to see if there is still space.
