Playoffs Begin & End for Ellicottville Sports Teams

Ellicottville Girls Varsity soccer team played in the Section 6 Semifinals vs. Franklinville on Saturday, Oct. 24. The final score was 5-0. The Eagles were led by Morgan Zlockie with three goals. Jenna Aldrich and Brenna Cole added one goal each. Shelby Toth and Kaleigh Hunt each had an assist. Robin Freaney had two saves for the shutout.

The Eagles next play in the Section Finals vs. Pine Valley on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Pioneer.

In Boys Varsity Eagles Soccer, the Eagles came away with a 5 – 1 win over Franklinville on Saturday, Oct. 24.  Scoring for the Eagles were Ben Zoeller, Cam Eddy, Nick DiDonato, Jay Browiak and Robert Sawicki.  Robert Spell made three saves in goal.

The boys next play North Collins on Friday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. for the Sectional Championship in Hamburg.

The Ellicottville Little Eagles football teams’ seasons came to an end on Saturday in the Super Bowl. The Pee Wee’s could not overcome the Randolph Raiders, who won their third straight title. The Midgets lost a tough battle to the undefeated  Allegany/Limestone Gators. Both teams look promising for the future.

The Eagles Varsity Volleyball team lost to Allegany/Limestone in four sets (25-20, 26-28, 25-23, 25-20) on Monday, Oct. 19.  Marissa Hamilton had 22 kills and eight digs. Kelsi Belz had 17 digs and Alissa Gregory had 11 kills.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, the Eagles Varsity Volleyball team beat Springville: 25-27, 25-14, 25-22. Hamilton had six aces, 24 kills and three blocks.  Gregory added six kills and Mackenzie Czapla added five aces.

On Friday, Oct. 23, the team kept up their winning play by beating Pine Valley, 25-14, 25-22, 25-15.  Liz Dusterhus had nine kills, Caitlyn Golley had two aces and four kills, Elissa Cole had five aces and Kelsi Belz had six aces.
