The Eagles girls’ varsity soccer team defeated Pine Valley 3-0 to win the Section 6 title last Friday night at Pioneer.
Seniors Morgan Zlockie and Brenna Cole each had one goal, while junior Jenna Aldrich also scored. Freshman Robin Freaney was spectacular in the net with five saves and the shutout.
The Eagles’ next game is the Regionals Championship against the Section 5 Class D team (to be determined). The Regionals game takes place Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at Niagara University.
The Eagles boys’ varsity soccer team defeated North Collins 1-0 to advance to the Far West Regional Game on Friday, Nov. 6. Freshman Brennan Finn scored the lone goal. Robert Spell made four saves in the goal to preserve the victory. Ellicottville outshot North Collins 12-4 on the night.
The Regional’s game against the Section 5 winner (to be determined) will be played at Spencerport at 5 p.m.
Titans Take on Frewsburg Nov. 6 for Section 6 Championship
The Franklinville/Ellicottville Titans were the 27-0 winners over the Cattaraugus//Little Valley Timberwolves on Friday night at Franklinville. The Titans head to the Ralph Wilson Stadium this Friday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. to take on the Frewsburg Bears for the Section 6 title.
During the Catt/LV game, the Titans offense put up 344 total yards to the Timberwolves’ 141 yards. Senior quarterback Tommy Easton was 8-13 in passing for 152 yards and three touchdown passes. Senior Caleb Rinko rushed 12 times for 114 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Brock Blecha had nine tackles for the defense, while Preston Hutchinson had five solo tackles and a sack.
The Timberwolves were led by Senior Kyle O’Donnell both offensively and defensively.
