The annual “5X7 Art for Everyone” Exhibition and Sale kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC). General admission tickets are $15 per person for this event where more than 300 original 5” X 7” artworks will line the CCAC gallery wall.

The new twist is that 10 of these pieces by popular artists will be covered, increasing the suspense of choosing these pieces!

The evening is a lively affair with buyers vying for their favorite pieces. The artwork is hung anonymously, so value and name recognition are level, while fun and anticipation increases. One by one, thirty first-pick ticket holders ($50 per person) get to choose up to three pieces. After the first-pick ticket holders have chosen, all the artwork is available for claiming by everyone present. With the new twist of having ten artworks by popular local artists “hidden in plain sight,” buyers choosing these works will not know what they have until after they have purchased them, sight unseen.

Guests will also enjoy appetizers catered by Sheila Darrow and happy hour beverages as they shop for original artworks priced at $25 each.

As a teaser preview, local favorite landscape oil painter Mikel Wintermantel is donating three pieces and the 2015 Southern Tier Biennial Best of Show Winner Wayne Claypatch is donating two pieces. Professional artists and amateurs alike are welcome to submit their work. Information on how to do so is on the CCAC website www.myartscouncil,net.  Artwork not claimed during the event on December 5 will remain on sale throughout the holiday season in the gallery.

We want to thank our business sponsor of this event, Fox Financial, for supporting CCAC. This annual fundraiser helps the Cattaraugus County Arts Council finish the year strong so that we can continue to provide classes, workshops and programming that will make this beautiful place in which we live an even better place – a more interesting, stimulating place where people want to live, work, and raise their families.

First-pick tickets for $50 and general admission tickets for $15 can be purchased on the CCAC website or at the office/studio/store at 100 West Main Street, Allegany, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.–4 p.m., and by phone at (716)372-7455. For more information, please contact Tina at tina@myartscouncil.net.
