Two Great Events, One Awesome Weekend Jan. 22-24
By Alicia Dziak
Winter has arrived, better late than never! And, like all winter months in EVL, there’s a ton of fun to be had! Music, beer, bikes and more are all yours for the taking Jan. 22-24.
Cold beer and hot music can only mean one thing: a weekend of extreme fun is in your future with the Winter Blues and Brews Festival, sponsored by the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce.
Formerly called Winter Blues weekend, adding “Brews” to the name translates into great tasting opportunities from the Buffalo Niagara Brewers Association. Combine that with the hottest blues bands around— Heavenly Chillbillies, Tommy Z and Millers and the Other Sinners, to name a few—and you’ve got yourself the perfect excuse to get out those dancin’ shoes.
Don’t forget to pick up a copy of the Ellicottville Times before the event for the complete weekend music schedule.
Love Harleys, live music and the energetic atmosphere of Holiday Valley? Zoar Valley’s Gowanda Harley-Davidson (GHD) and Holiday Valley are once again coming together for the annual Harley-Day Valley, a fun-filled winter biker party! The event takes place at Holiday Valley’s Main Lodge on Jan. 23, starting at 10 a.m.
Visitors will once again be able to test the Harley-Davidson Jumpstart on the deck at the lodge by going through the gears and making a lot of noise. It’s a great opportunity to sit on a real bike that’s running, but stationery, and learn how to shift through the gears. GHD’s marketing manager Delaney Peters said, “The Jumpstart always proves to be exciting,” noting it’s also great for photo opps.
Giveaways? Yes, please! 96.5 Kix Country will be there with its “money machine,” and some lucky guests will get a chance to grab cash and coupons. Attendees can also try their luck at winning Bruce Springsteen tickets for his First Niagara performance, and there will be door prize drawings from GHD and Miller Lite. Plus, GHD will have its “street team” on the slopes passing out prizes for randomly-selected winners.
Throughout the event, Holiday Valley will have info for attendees on learn-to-ski and ride packages for National Learn a Snowsport month. Motorcycle Safety School will also have a representative on site explaining the “learn to ride” programs they have to offer and the benefits of a rider instructor course.
Top it all off with awesome Harley-Davidson models on display, new GHD event t-shirts on sale, and live music from The Bleeding Hearts starting at 3 p.m.
“This is a fun day to connect motorsports and snowsports, as one’s winding down and one’s winding up,” said Peters.
Biker or not, Harley-Day Valley is sure to be a rip-roarin’ good time for all! For more information, visit www.gowandaharley.com.
