2016 RACE RESULTS: Big Showings on Big Weekend

Last weekend was a big one for Ellicottville youth ski racing as HoliMont hosted a Slalom race on Saturday for U14/U12/U10/U8 athletes and Holiday Valley hosted a Giant Slalom event on Sunday.  Results follow:

Day One Women

The HV U14 women swept the top five places in the Slalom on Saturday. Hayly Fredrickson (U14), an Ellicottville native, won her first ever Slalom. This gives her a great start toward U14 states qualification. Her twin sister Logan came in a close second, as Cassidy Creager,  Sierra Cappelli and first year U14 racer Caroline DeRose took the next three spots.

HoliMont & Holiday Valley U12 women took the top ten in the slalom: Allison Martin (HV) won the U12 race, followed by  Isabella Stringer (HO), Charleigh Preistman (HO),  Simona Muscarella (HO),  Megan Williams (HV),  Madalyn Cummings (HO), Heather Dunlap (HO), Brianne Allegra (HV), Mia Kerl (who skied U12 as a U10) and Alexandra Smillie (HV).

In the U10 race, Carissa Dunlap (HO) took third (thirteenth overall).

Isabella Cummings (HO) won the U8 race and teammate Georgia Preistman placed second.

Day One Men

Holiday Valley U14 men swept the podium with Dalton Potter first, Alex Wojnowski second and Alec Nolan third.

U12 Holiday Valley Men had a great showing as well, with Erik Shattenberg winning the race and Ryan Scanlon taking third. HoliMont’s Cameron Johnson placed second on his home hill.

Dougie Basadur (HO) won the U10 race (7th overall) and Harry Scanlon (HV) placed third (tenth overall).  Beaudin Napolitano (HV) placed fourth (11th overall).

HoliMont’s Cody Preston (U8) won his age group (20th), as Shay Malone (HO) took second (29th) and Coleman Carls took fourth (31st).

Day Two Women

Holiday Valley Women swept the U14 and overall podiums as Lauren Thomas took first, Cassidy Creager took second and Hayly Fredrickson took third.

Holiday Valley’s Allison Martin again won the U12 race, placing fifth overall. Mary Catherine Mangan (HO) finished second (9th).

HoliMont Women took the top two spots on the U10 podium: Carissa Dunlap placed first (24th) and Mia Kerl took second (41st).  Holiday Valley’s Charlotte Harter took the first podium of her career, coming in third place (50th).  Olivia Cummings had a great day with a fourth-place finish (51st).

HoliMont’s U8 Girls took the top two podium spots: Isabella Cummings won the race (52nd) and Georgia Preistman came in second (72nd).

Day Two Men

Holiday Valley’s Dalton Potter won the men’s U14 race, while Laz Rifkin placed second and Alex Wojnowski  placed third. Meanwhile, Alec Nolan had another great day finishing in fourth place and Orry Shattenberg (HV) rounded out the top five (6th). HoliMont’s Lucas Johnson took sixth (7th) with teammate Austin Gyorgy in seventh place (8th).

Holiday Valley’s Erik Shattenberg (U12 ) won his age division (5th) and Ryan Scanlon took third (21st).

U10 Harry Scanlon (HV) placed second(20th) and Beaudin Napolitano placed third (32nd).
