Snow may be on the ground, skiers and boarders swooshing down the hill, but thoughts of summer have already started to creep into the minds of some. The annual celebration of the warm weather, as well as good music and fireworks, known as the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce’s Summer Music Festival (July 1-3) has signed its headlining acts.

This year, with the Canadian and American Independence Days aligning, it seemed only natural to add a night of music to the schedule. Instead of two nights of great music, there will be three!

On Friday, July 1, Rusted Root makes their return to the Summer Music Festival stage, slope side at Holiday Valley.

Rusted Root, known for such hits as “Send Me on My Way,” and “Faith I Do Believe,” draws their sound from a fusion of acoustic, rock, world and more, with a driving percussion sound that draws from Native American and African sounds.

Saturday night, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will perform with the theme, “Heroes and Villains,” playing music from well-known television and move heroes. As the evening progresses, the sky will be aglow with fireworks, set to the music of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, as well as some other truly patriotic music.

Sunday night, you’ll be “Rockin’ into the Night” as 38 Special takes the stage at Holiday Valley. After more than three decades together, they continue to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to thousands of fans a year. The night air will rock with the sounds of hits like “Hold on Loosely,” Caught up in You,” “Back Where You Belong,” and many more.

The Ellicottville Summer Music Festival is one of the only outdoor music scenes that allows guests to bring a picnic basket in with them. Bring dinner and a blanket, even your lawn chair. Enjoy the show and have a family meal outdoors, in the fresh air. Looking for an easy one-stop? Holiday Valley’s food services department will have concessions set up for all of your needs. Parking is free and the entire venue is wheelchair accessible. With ticket prices starting at $25, children 12 and under are free, where else can  you find this much of a night of family entertainment?

For those looking for something a bit more than a picnic on the hillside, VIP packages are available that include meals, refreshments, all-event tickets and preferred parking and seating.

Tickets for Rusted Root are $25 presale. Tickets for the Philharmonic and 38 Special are $30 presale. Tickets are available by calling the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce at (800)249-9099 or on our website at www.ellicottvilleny.com.
