Take part in an annual tradition while enjoying the great outdoors and getting in a full body workout. On Sunday, Feb. 14, Allegany State Park will host the Art Roscoe Loppet XC Ski Race, which helps support the Allegany Nordic Ski Patrol. The race begins and ends at the Summit Ski Area Lodge on the Red House side of the Park, and spans the trails of the Art Roscoe Ski Area.
The Loppet draws skiers from several states to the rolling trails of the Art Roscoe Trail System. Whether you’re a first- timer or a seasoned pro, you’ll love the trail’s miles of amazing and beautiful challenges, and due to its high elevation, often boasts a tremendous base and excellent conditions on even a few inches of fresh snow. Race organizers work closely with park staff to groom and set the track for a fun, safe and challenging day of racing.
6K, 13K & 22K course options offer distances for all levels of skiers in a classic format. Select the distance that suits you and enjoy a paradise of set double track and rolling hills in one of the most picturesque and challenging areas of Western New York. Then enjoy a fun post-race party, lunch & an awards ceremony.
Awards will be given to the top five males and females in each division, as well as overall winners. Door prizes and awards include skis, GPS watches, poles from Infinity and gear from Alpina Sports and The City Garage in Ellicottville. Plus, all finishers receive a finisher’s token.
